Reputation and social media
I generally don't like it when websites fill their Retweet content box with references such as 'XYZ Publication l News l Business' and I tend to delete it. I think it's messy.

I've just Tweeted a medical article from the BBC website and their box comes up with 'BBC News -' and then the content. I chose to keep it there and when I thought about it I realised that the BBC News addition added credibility.

That's an example of how building trust with a brand can help you in social media.

When you chose to alter the heading on a Tweet it shows the author that you've taken the time to curate their content.

As you point out James you can leverage the reach of other brands by carefully selecting the content you share with your audience :)
