A close-up look at marketing ...

Yesterday I was looking at flights to Istanbul and today there are adverts for flights to Istanbul on my Facebook page. This is remarketing and it works at an IP level.

So, although I wasn't logged in and identified my computer location was tracked. I feel a bit uneasy about it, but that's just because it's new.

If you're sharing a computer with anyone it might be interesting to see what it's suggesting. Privacy? Not any more.

Just as a semantic point; but that would be an example of retargeting (i.e. display ads targeted to you based on browsing history/cookies dropped) as opposed to 'remarketing' which typically involves an email being sent to logged in users, following baskets being abandoned at checkout etc.

And yes... Both can give great results for Merchants/Advertisers in terms of advertising ROI.

Happy to go into more detail if people are interested (?)
