Our prices are Sofa King low!
Northampton based Sofa King had a strapline; 'Our prices are Sofa King low!' which led to complaints to Police and, eventually, to their ads being banned in local newspapers. The Northampton Herald and Post called it 'offensive and unsuitable for public display'.

Are controversial straplines such as this a good idea if you want to get noticed or should they be banned to protect public interests?

Funny that local newspapers would ban them as they don't seem to mind advertising dodgy massage parlours and escort services.

Apparently 3 people complained and the Advertising Standards Agency upheld the complaint. 3 people 'offended', but the banning story gave Sofa King national exposure.

I always thought people wearing FCUK on their t-shirts looked like pricks, but French Connection seemed to do well out of it.
